Biography

Leslie K. Brown is an independent curator and educator specializing in the history of photography and modern contemporary art. She earned her Ph.D. in History of Art & Architecture from Boston University and holds a Master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Brown has served as a tenure curator at the Photographic Resource Center, where she curated and oversaw over 40 exhibitions. Additionally, she has worked as a museum educator at various institutions, including the Cheekwood Museum of Art and the Austin Museum of Art. Brown continues to contribute to the field as an author of essays and catalogs, and has guest-curated exhibitions in a variety of regional galleries and museums. As an award-winning educator, she has taught at numerous prestigious institutions such as Boston University, Emerson College, Lesley University, Rhode Island School of Design, Simmons University, Wellesley College, and the University of Massachusetts Boston. Brown is also an active speaker, panelist, moderator, and invited departmental portfolio reviewer and exhibition juror. A native of Rochester, NY, she is a product of the Kodak family.
