Dr. Leslie Pal

Biography

Leslie Pal is a Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus at Carleton University, having previously served as the Founding Dean of the College of Public Policy at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Doha, Qatar. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Joint Honours in Political Science and Sociology from Mount Allison University, Canada, later completing a Master's and a PhD in Political Science at Queen’s University, Canada. His research primarily focuses on public administration and public policy, exploring the intricate relationship between theoretical frameworks and practical applications. Pal is actively engaged in studying global policy advisory networks and their impact on domestic and international policymaking. His recent projects investigate the complex dynamics of policy advice, particularly in the wake of global crises like the 2008 financial crash, emphasizing the role of think tanks and advisory bodies. He has authored and edited several significant publications on topics such as policy transfer and global governance, contributing to the discourse on contemporary public administration challenges.
