Biography

Leslie Plunkett is a lecturer in art with a focus on ceramics at the California Institute of Technology. As a Pasadena native, Leslie's passion for art began in early childhood. With over 35 years of teaching experience in various capacities, Leslie started at Saint Elizabeth School in Altadena, where she expanded a rudimentary art program to include diverse advanced media and ceramics courses. Concurrently, Leslie has pursued further studies in ceramics, sculpture, and mold making under the guidance of Philip Cornelius, Cindy Jackson, and Keiko Fukazawa at Pasadena City College. She has been teaching children and adults at the Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre since 2001. Leslie began teaching ceramics at Caltech in 2018. Her love for teaching establishes her as a dedicated and approachable mentor, bringing out the best in her students. In addition to her teaching, Leslie has collaborated with interior designers and has been featured in art galleries and boutiques. She continues to produce both functional and sculptural works from her home studio.
