Biography

Leslie Robbins is an Associate Professor and the Department Head at the University of Regina. His expertise primarily focuses on field geobiology and low-temperature aqueous geochemistry. His research utilizes geochemistry of chemical sediments, such as banded iron formations and siliciclastics, to investigate the chemistry of Earth's surface environments over the past 4 billion years, in relation to the evolution of life. His work addresses geochemical cycling of major and trace elements in modern and ancient environments and examines particle surface reactivity in bioremediation efforts. Robbins has projects funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, which include exploring chemostratigraphic insights into surface environments and the cycling of rare earth elements in the western Canadian sedimentary basin. His contribution to science includes numerous publications and collaborative research endeavors, particularly in the fields of Earth sciences, geochemistry, and biogeochemistry.
