Biography

Lewina Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Aging from the University of Southern California. Her research primarily explores the role of psychosocial stress exposure, particularly early adversity, and its effects on health throughout life. This work adopts a lifespan perspective aimed at understanding the mechanisms that transmit stress effects to health. In addition, she investigates positive psychosocial factors that enhance resilience against the adverse impacts of psychosocial stress on health. Dr. Lee co-directs the Boston Early Adversity Mortality Study (BEAMS), which aims to create an extensive dataset linking childhood experiences to later-life health outcomes. Throughout her career, she has received numerous prestigious awards from the National Institute on Aging, including the Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award.
