Professor Dr. Lewis Chodosh

Biography

Lewis Chodosh is a Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania, where he holds a leadership role as Chair of the Department of Cancer Biology and as an Associate Director of Basic Science at the Abramson Cancer Center. His research expertise focuses on various facets of cancer biology, particularly mechanisms underlying cancer development, progression, and recurrence. His laboratory utilizes genetically engineered mouse models alongside patient samples to explore how breast cancers develop and resist therapies, which is critical to understanding cancer mortality. His work employs a wide variety of basic and translational research approaches that aim to elucidate pathways fundamental to human cancers. Areas of particular interest include tumor dormancy, metastasis, cancer genetics, and the role of obesity in cancer recurrence. With an academic background including an M.D. from Harvard Medical School and a Ph.D. from MIT, he is well-equipped to bridge clinical insights with scientific research.
