Biography

Li-Fan Lu received a Ph.D. in Immunology from Dartmouth College. He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Washington and at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center as a Leukemia Lymphoma Society Fellow. In 2011, he received the K99/R00 Career Development Award from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). His research focuses on the mechanisms of regulation by regulatory T (Treg) cells in immune responses and inflammation. He studies the role of micro RNAs in Treg cell biology, examining how these small molecules influence the differentiation and function of Treg cells. He is particularly interested in understanding how environmental cues regulate Treg cells and how these processes alter their functionality in various disease settings, including infections and autoimmune disorders. Additionally, he aims to elucidate signaling pathways involved in Treg cell-mediated control of inflammatory responses, addressing fundamental questions regarding Treg cell interactions with effector T cells in specific inflammatory contexts.
