Biography

Li Shu completed graduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and joined the faculty at the University of Toronto. He created and directs the Collaborative Specialization in Psychology Engineering (PsychEng). Shu has been trained in computer-aided design for product end-of-life and actively identifies and incorporates results from psychology research to enhance creative productivity in the engineering design process, with a focus on the conceptual-design stage. He applies various strategies to develop design concepts that support pro-environmental behavior. Throughout his career, Shu has been honored with a number of domestic and international awards, including the CIRP Taylor Medal and numerous paper awards. He has also held leadership positions within the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and is a fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).
