Li Yao earned a PhD in Management with a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. His research interests are centered on financial reporting, empirical asset pricing, security valuation, financial intermediaries, and voluntary disclosures. Yao has published in several leading academic journals, including the Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance, the Journal of Corporate Finance, and the Managerial Auditing Journal. He is currently a member of the editorial team for the Asian Review of Accounting. His research projects have been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Société et Culture, and the CPA Canada–CAAA Research Program. He is active in presenting his research at international conferences and invited workshops. In addition to his research, Yao's teaching focus is on financial accounting, which is closely aligned with his research activities.
