Biography

Li Zong is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Saskatchewan and has extensive research interests in China Studies, Immigration, Race and Ethnic Relations, Social Stratification, and Social Mobility. Dr. Zong has been actively involved in various research projects funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Prairie Metropolis Centre, and the Federal Department of Canadian Heritage. His current research examines issues affecting Chinese immigrants in Canada, including covert racism, racial inequality, and social integration. Dr. Zong teaches courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Sociological Theory, Research Methods, Race and Ethnic Relations, and Social Stratification. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of understanding sociological concepts in real-world contexts. Additionally, Dr. Zong supervises M.A. and Ph.D. students in fields related to race and ethnic studies and immigration, particularly focusing on Chinese communities.
