Biography

Lia Fluit works at the Radboudumc Health Academy where she leads the research group Research Learning Education. Her research and teaching focus on creating stimulating, powerful, and safe learning and working environments to provide professionals with the context needed to realize innovative, person-centered care and effectively train emerging professionals. The aim is to educate healthcare professionals who continue to learn throughout their working lives to provide person-centered and innovative care, while also taking ownership of their own development. Research gives insights into how this can be accomplished and what factors may hinder progress. Key themes in her workplace learning research include inter- and intra-professional learning and collaboration, the learning and transfer of complex skills to practice, feedback—particularly upward feedback—and the creation of safe and stimulating learning/work environments. She is also affiliated with the Teaching and Learning Centre of Radboud University as a thematic leader in education research and project leader for a national NRO project on adaptive expertise development in work-related contexts.
