Biography

Lia Gomes Paim is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Montreal. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedicine and a Master's degree in Health Sciences from the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Montreal focused on cytokinesis in mouse preimplantation embryos. Her research focuses on understanding how alterations in microtubule dynamics contribute to diseases such as cancer and infertility, using techniques such as genetics, cell biology, and live-cell microscopy. Lia's laboratory aims to develop assisted reproductive technologies by investigating the effects of techniques like cryopreservation on the cytoskeleton of microtubules. Her work has received recognition through several awards, including travel grants and best presentation awards.
