Biography

Liam Mason is an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL) with a dual appointment in clinical psychology imaging neuroscience. He holds an MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship based at the Max Planck Centre for Computational Psychiatry and is also affiliated with the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Neuroimaging. Mason co-leads clinical academic pathways within UCL's Doctorate of Clinical Psychology training program and supervises PhD candidates in collaboration with various neuroscience and mental health partnerships. He completed his PhD in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Manchester in 2012 and has been involved in notable research projects focusing on the intersection of affective reward processes and psychological interventions. Notably, he moved to the Max Planck UCL Centre for Computational Psychiatry in 2017, progressing to a Lectureship in Clinical Psychology by September 2018. In addition, he continues to work within the NHS as a senior clinical psychologist, specializing in delivering psychological therapies for psychosis and bipolar disorder. In 2022, he founded the LIBRA clinic at UCL University Clinic to integrate intervention research with clinical practices for bipolar disorder.
