Biography

Lian Zhao received his B.Sc. (with Honors) degree from Civil Aviation University of China in 1990, an M.S. degree from Wuhan University, China in 1993, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo in 2002, specializing in electrical engineering. He joined the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 2003. Lian is an IEEE Fellow and a registered professional engineer in Ontario. He serves as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Communications Society and the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) and is an elected member of the Board of Governors of IEEE VTS. His research interests focus on wireless communications, mobile edge computing communications, Internet of Vehicles (IoV) networks, integrated terrestrial-aerial-space networks, and immersive AI communications.
