Biography

Liana Giannakopoulou is a Senior Research Fellow specializing in Greek Studies at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics. She completed her BA in Greek Philology at the University of Athens and pursued postgraduate studies at Paris VII-Jussieu, obtaining a DEA in Formal Theoretical Linguistics. She also conducted research for her PhD in Modern Greek Studies, focusing on visual arts and literature. Liana has been a member of both the Departments of Modern Greek Studies and Comparative Literature at King’s College London, where she taught modern Greek prose, fiction, poetry, and Cretan Renaissance drama, employing methods of comparative literature. Her teaching interests encompass Modern Greek Literature, Film, Classical Reception, Myth, and the intersections of modern Greek poetry with themes of War and Trauma. Liana's research interests include Women's Poetry, Classical Reception, Modern Greek Literature, and the relationship between visual arts and literature, particularly in the works of Greek women poets. Currently, she is working on a book-length study exploring themes of myth and poetry through the lens of Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke's works.
