Biography

Liane Ioannou is a Senior Research Fellow in the Victorian Cancer Agency Mid-Career Research Fellow Cancer Research Program at Monash University, led by Professor John Zalcberg. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours, double majoring in genetics and psychology, and obtained her PhD from Monash University in 2013. Liane's research focuses on health behaviours and aims to extend scientific registries to evaluate and improve the quality of healthcare in cancer. She is particularly interested in quality of life research and leads her own program on supportive care for patients with upper gastrointestinal cancer. Her work includes leading a novel registry-based randomized controlled trial, involving symptom monitoring through patient-reported outcomes to enhance real-time clinical practice and centralize care coordination, thereby improving the quality of life for patients with pancreatic and oesophagogastric cancer.
