Biography

Liang He is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, and a Non-Tutorial Fellow at Kellogg College. His research focuses on soft robotics, biosensors, haptic virtual reality, and wearable robotics, specifically exploring embodied AI solutions for healthcare and biomedical applications. He obtained his DPhil from Imperial College London, concentrating on medical robotics, and from 2017 to 2020, he was a key researcher on the EPSRC Motion RoboPatient projects, developing virtual simulators and wearables for medical training. In early 2021, he joined the Oxford Robotics Institute as part of the Embodied Intelligence Program, where he is involved in developing soft-sensing skin robots that interact with humans. In 2022, he was elected co-chair of the Research Staff Forum in the MPLS Division and appointed a member of the Research Staff Consultation Group at Oxford. He has been awarded the MPLS Enterprise Innovation Fellowship and the Ideas2Impact Fellowship from Saïd Business School. In 2023, he became an Associate Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering.
