Biography

Liang Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on experimental condensed matter physics with a strong interest in light-matter interactions. He develops and utilizes time-resolved nonlinear optical techniques in the terahertz optical frequency regimes to study and control the properties of topological two-dimensional materials. His work addresses class of matter and collective phases that defy classical description, leading to an exotically rich range of emergent phenomena. His research interests include topological insulators, semimetals, superconductors, quantum antiferromagnets, spintronics, two-dimensional magnets, quantum spin liquids, and liquid crystals. Wu has been recognized with various awards including the Sloan Fellowship and the Outstanding Young Researcher Award from the International Organization of Chinese Physicists and Astronomers.
