Biography

Liang Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an experimental condensed matter physicist with a strong interest in light-matter interactions. His research focuses on developing and utilizing time-resolved nonlinear optical techniques in the terahertz (THz) and optical frequency regimes. He studies and controls the properties of topological two-dimensional materials and investigates collective phases of matter that defy classical description, leading to a rich range of emergent phenomena. His work encompasses a variety of research interests, including topological insulators, semimetals, superconductors, quantum antiferromagnets, spintronics, 2D magnets, quantum spin liquids, and liquid crystals. Wu has held academic positions at several prestigious institutions and has been recognized with numerous awards for his contributions to the field.
