Dr. Liang Xu

Biography

Liang Xu is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, contributing significantly to both teaching and research since joining the faculty in September 2014. He completed his PhD at University College Dublin, Ireland, and holds a Master of Accounting from the same institution, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Shenzhen University, China. His research focuses on critical aspects of financial accounting and corporate finance, with particular emphasis on AI-Assisted Content Analysis, where he leverages advanced artificial intelligence techniques to systematically analyze and interpret textual content in financial documents. Additionally, he investigates the information environment and its impact on corporate transparency and investor decision-making, as well as Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) practices and their implications on corporate outcomes. Dr. Xu teaches various courses at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels, including Quantitative Research Methods in Accounting and Financial Analysis of Corporate Performance, and is currently accepting PhD students.
