Biography

Lidewijde de Jong is a Professor of East-Mediterranean West-Asian Archaeology at the University of Groningen. Her expertise spans various areas including Hellenistic and Roman West Asia, mortuary studies, funerary rituals, and the dynamics of ancient empires. She is particularly interested in globalization and identity, as well as archaeological heritage in conflict zones.
