Dr. Lidia Vognar

Biography

Lidia Vognar is an Associate Professor of Medicine and a Clinician Educator at Brown University. Her passion for geriatric medicine is rooted in her experiences as the youngest child of aging parents, fostering an appreciation for high-quality care from an early age. Growing up in Serbia and witnessing the challenges of a largely undeveloped healthcare system inspired her journey into medicine. After completing her medical degree in Serbia, she pursued internal medicine training at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Lidia furthered her expertise with an advanced geriatric fellowship at Duke University and obtained a Master's degree in Health Sciences. Her research interests focus on elder abuse, geriatric education, and the development of age-friendly health systems. At Brown University, she plays an active role in the geriatric fellowship and has contributed to initiatives aimed at improving transitions of care. Lidia is committed to addressing the complexities of healthcare systems affecting older adults, advocating for alternative models of care, and emphasizing the importance of education in geriatrics. Her work encompasses collaborations with organizations like Integra to promote an age-friendly healthcare system in Rhode Island.
