Biography

Lie-Liang Yang is a professor of Wireless Communications at the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. He received his Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees in Communications Engineering from Shanghai Tiedao University and Northern Jiaotong University, China, respectively, in 1988 and 1997. He obtained his PhD in Communications Electronics. As a visiting scientist, he worked at the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics, Czech Academy of Sciences in 1997. His career at Southampton began as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 1997, proceeding to Lecturer and Reader roles before becoming a Professor in Wireless Communications in 2010. His research interests encompass a broad range of areas within wireless communications, including wireless networks and signal processing, with particular emphasis on molecular nano communications. He has published over 450 research papers, including more than 250 journal articles and has authored four research monographs. He is recognized as a Fellow of IEEE and IET, and has received various awards for his contributions to the field. He was awarded the IEEE ComSoc Radio Communications Committee Technical Recognition Award in 2025 for his contributions in multicarrier communications CDMA and has been an active participant in numerous technical committees and editorial boards.
