Biography

Liedeke Plate is a Professor at Radboud University in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, where she chairs Culture Inclusivity at the Radboud Institute for Culture History. As a cultural theorist, her research delves into the relationship between art and cultural inclusion, with a significant focus on literature, gender, and cultural memory. She publishes internationally on topics such as women's rewriting, reading practices, and the material turn in literary and cultural studies. Her recent projects examine how to create an inclusive international classroom and explore the role of dance as an affective methodology for making the emotions surrounding colonial slavery visible and negotiable within the public sphere. She is involved in various committees and advisory boards related to contemporary literature and women's studies.
