She draws on anthropology, pragmatic sociology, public administration, and urban health to generate new insights into how welfare states can become more inclusive and reduce health inequalities. Oldenhof is a co-founder of the CARE Lab Rotterdam, which aims to facilitate collaborative action research between various stakeholders in order to provide personalized support to citizens facing interconnected issues such as health, debt, precarious work, and housing. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Veni grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research in 2018 and the Frans Rutten Research Award for Research Talent in 2019.
