Biography

Lifeng Luo grew up in Xi'An, an ancient city in China known for the Terracotta Army. He attended Peking University to study Atmospheric Sciences and later moved to the United States for advanced degrees. He received both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences/Climatology from Rutgers University, where he was advised by Professor Alan Robock. In 2003, he began postdoctoral training at Princeton University with a joint appointment in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Program of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science. He was promoted to research scientist in the Land Surface Hydrology Group led by Professor Eric Wood. In fall 2009, he joined the faculty at Michigan State University as a professor in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences.
