Biography

Lihong Zhang obtained his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg, Germany in 2003. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Concordia University in Montreal and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, as well as a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. In October 2006, he joined the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s as a Full Professor. Dr. Zhang has received several awards, including the Leaders Opportunity Fund Award from the Canada Foundation for Innovation in 2008 and the Faculty Award for Research Excellence from the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University in 2016. His research team is supported by various organizations, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and several private companies. Dr. Zhang's research focuses on addressing challenges in VLSI design implementation, covering areas such as electronic design automation, analog mixed-signal integrated circuit design, digital circuit system design, MEMS design optimization, microfluidics biosensors, and wireless sensor networks.
