Lilah Fowler is a British-Japanese artist based in London, known for her innovative artworks that fuse digital and analogue organic methods. Utilizing hand-weaving techniques, ceramics, algal growths, and bespoke image-generating software, Fowler's pieces delve into themes such as landscape, infrastructure, and the geopolitics of hyper-landscapes. Her sculptural-led installations often merge textile, clay, found objects, film, and sound, highlighting the potential of abstraction inherent in material translation. Since joining the Slade School of Fine Art in 2010, she has been teaching various levels, focusing on Fine Art Sculpture. As a fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2014, Fowler has also undertaken external examining roles at Goldsmiths, University of London.
