Biography

Lile Jia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the National University of Singapore. He obtained his Ph.D. from Indiana University and has a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons.) from the National University of Singapore. His research interests focus on the dynamics of goal pursuit, examining how both intrapersonal and interpersonal contexts shape individuals' pursuit of significant goals. His work aims to understand and contribute to enriching social environments that help individuals strive for their goals more effectively and find their experiences more rewarding. In his research, he employs a multi-method approach that includes experimental designs, longitudinal studies, analyses of large datasets, and intervention programs. The topics he investigates include self-regulation, academic achievement, temptations, self-control, national identification, intergroup conflicts, and social cognition. Lile is also actively involved in the Situated Goal Pursuit (SPUR) Lab, where he collaborates with other researchers on these subjects.
