Dr. Lilian Josephson

Biography

Lilian Lam Josephson is a Senior Lecturer and the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Josephson's research expertise focuses on liquid product design innovation, with significant experience in biopharmaceutical development. Her professional background includes valuable industry connections within consumer packaged goods, complemented by her graduate training in biopharmaceutical development. In her role at ChemBE, she teaches courses on the engineering design process and capstone Product Design courses, where she mentors student leaders and incorporates user-centered design principles, needs assessment, and business case development. Josephson leads curriculum enhancements and strategic initiatives for the ChemBE undergraduate program. Her vision is to expand the ChemBE design curriculum to support design excellence in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Josephson holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware.
