Lily Chang is a historian specializing in late imperial and modern China, with a focus on the formation of legal measures during the Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945). Her work traces and explores the importance of jurisprudence in the historical development of twentieth-century China. By drawing on previously unexamined legal case records, her doctoral research examined the legal treatment of young individuals during wartime in China. Prior to joining UCL, she served as the Henry Lumley Research Fellow at Magdalene College, Cambridge from 2011 to 2014.
