Biography

Lin-Lin Chen is a Full Professor and chair of Design Innovation Strategy at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Chen is the dean of the Industrial Design Department and conducts research focused on user interfaces in the Internet of Things, design innovation strategies, and the aesthetics of intelligent forms. Chen's research emphasizes product aesthetics, design innovation, and interaction design with smart objects, integrating emerging technologies and wireless sensing into design practices. Through her work, she studies how product behavior shapes immediate reactions and interactions in various contexts influenced by time and movement. Additionally, she serves as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Design, which she co-founded with Dr. Yaliang Chuang to elevate it among leading design journals. Chen has previously held academic positions in Taiwan, including being a professor at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and serving as the dean of its College of Design. She has also been active in leadership roles within professional design organizations, including being the president elect of the International Association of Societies of Design Research (IASDR).
