Biography

Cong Rudd Family Professor of Management and a professor of finance is the founding director of the FinTech Initiative at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. He serves as the finance editor for Management Science and is a faculty scientist for the Initiative on Cryptocurrencies & Contracts (IC3), as well as a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). He has founded multiple international research forums and has been recognized as a Kauffman Junior Fellow and a Top 10 Quant Professor by Poets&Quants in 2022. Prior to his current role, Cong was a faculty member at the University of Chicago after completing his PhD in finance and MS in statistics at Stanford University, along with a joint Master of Arts in physics and Bachelor's in mathematics and physics from Harvard University. His research focuses on financial economics, information economics, fintech, digital economy, and entrepreneurship. Cong has co-authored significant studies introducing goal-oriented search interpretable AI in finance and analyzing aspects of tokenomics, including cryptocurrency pricing and digital currencies. He has received various paper prizes and research grants and has been invited to deliver keynote speeches at numerous international conferences. Cong provides advisory support to industrial leaders in fintech and insightful guidance to government regulatory agencies.
