Biography

Lin Yang is an epidemiologist at the University of Calgary, where he serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Cumming School of Medicine, specializing in the Departments of Oncology and Community Health Sciences. Before relocating to Canada, he was an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the Medical University of Vienna. He has conducted research within large cohorts including the European Prospective Investigation of Cancer-Norfolk study in the UK, and the Nurses’ Health Study and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in the US. His research investigates the impacts of large-scale infrastructural interventions on health outcomes, employing a transdisciplinary approach to integrate clinical research methodologies with epidemiology and implementation science. His work includes assessing novel biological markers and 24-hour activity monitoring to identify risk factors for cancer, as well as leveraging intervention studies to determine the optimal type, dose, and timing of exercise to improve patient-reported outcomes along the cancer care continuum. He is also actively involved in harmonizing innovative movement-based interventions within cancer care pathways.
