Dr. Lina Brand Correa

Biography

Lina Brand Correa is an Assistant Professor in the Business Environment at York University. She holds a PhD in Earth Environment from the University of Leeds, an MSc in Ecological Economics with distinction from the University of Edinburgh, and a BA in Economics from the National University of Colombia, Medellín Campus. Her research primarily focuses on ecological economics, examining aspects such as energy poverty, wellbeing, demand consumption, and the role of participation in democracy. Brand Correa's research employs an ecological economics framework to investigate how energy-related social issues intersect with societal wellbeing. She has worked on various significant research projects, including exploring the consequences of Colombia’s social housing policies and addressing energy vulnerability in Latin America. Brand Correa has published extensively, contributing to notable journals and conferences, and is recognized for her impactful research on the links between energy use and social outcomes. She is also involved in initiatives aimed at embedding participation in local authority decision-making and understanding resource use necessary for achieving human wellbeing. With contributions to numerous academic publications, Brand Correa continues to shape discourse on sustainability and energy economics through her interdisciplinary approach.
