Biography

Lina von Sydow is a Professor in Scientific Computing at Uppsala University, focusing on numerical methods in finance and ice sheet modeling. She defended her PhD thesis in 1995 on 'Domain Decomposition Methods Fast Solvers First-order PDEs' and had a postdoctoral fellowship at Oxford University in 1996/97. Since 1997, she has held a permanent position as a senior lecturer at Uppsala University, obtaining the title of Docent in 2000 and recognized as an excellent teacher in 2013. She served as the Head of the Department of Information Technology from 2018 to 2023 and has been Section Dean in the Mathematics Computer Science section since July 1, 2023. Her current research interests include numerical methods, financial applications, and ice sheet modeling, with a previous focus on domain decomposition methods and fast solvers for partial differential equations.
