Dr. Lina Yao

Biography

Professor Lina Yao is a leading academic in the field of Computer Science at the University of New South Wales, Australia. She obtained her PhD and Master’s Degrees from the University of Adelaide, and her Bachelor's Degree from Shandong University in China. With a focus on machine learning, data mining, and human-machine interactions, she leads the Data Dynamics Lab, which she founded in 2016. Her research addresses critical challenges in machine learning systems, such as explainability, resilience, and data efficiency. Professor Yao's expertise includes application areas such as Few-Shot Learning, Zero-Shot Learning, and Intelligent Transportation Systems, contributing significantly with over 200 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact venues. She has been recognized with several prestigious awards including the ARC Future Fellowship and listings in the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list. At UNSW, she has also been involved in teaching various computer science courses, reflecting her commitment to educating and mentoring the next generation of researchers and practitioners in the field.
