Dr. Linda Block

Biography

Linda Block is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg and a Senior Consultant in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Her research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence in neurointensive care, improving postsurgical outcome recovery, and exploring the ethical aspects of critical care. She has worked on various studies, including the effects of local anesthetics on ovarian cancer cells and long-term outcomes in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. Block has published extensively on topics such as mental fatigue after hemorrhage, end-of-life decision-making in critically ill patients, and machine learning algorithms applied to medical time-series data. Her work aims to enhance clinical practices and patient care in the intensive care unit and surgical settings, ensuring a focus on both medical and ethical implications of treatment. Her ongoing research includes developing prehabilitation protocols for pancreatic surgery patients and using machine learning to detect delayed cerebral ischemia.
