Biography

Linda C. Hsieh-Wilson is the Milton Rosalind Chang Professor of Chemistry and a Merkin Institute Professor at the California Institute of Technology. She earned her B.S. from Yale University in 1990 and her Ph.D. from the University of California in 1996. Hsieh-Wilson began her academic career as an Assistant Professor at Caltech from 2000-2006, moving on to serve as Associate Professor from 2006-2010, and then attaining the rank of Professor from 2010-2017. She has held the title of Arthur Marian Hanisch Memorial Professor of Chemistry since 2017. Her research interests focus on synthetic combinatorial chemistry, neurobiology, and protein structure-function relationships, aiming to understand the molecular basis of fundamental brain processes. The Hsieh-Wilson group utilizes organic synthesis, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, and biophysics to manipulate and comprehend the interactions between small molecules and proteins critical for neuronal communication, development, and memory. Throughout her career, Linda has made significant contributions to the field of chemical biology and neural science.
