Linda C. Hsieh-Wilson is the Milton Rosalind Chang Professor of Chemistry and a Merkin Institute Professor at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Yale University in 1990 and her Ph.D. from the University of California in 1996. Hsieh-Wilson joined Caltech as an Assistant Professor in 2000 and progressed through the ranks to become an Associate Professor in 2006 and a Professor in 2010. From 2005 to 2014, she served as an Investigator, and in 2017, she was appointed as the Arthur Marian Hanisch Memorial Professor of Chemistry. Her research focuses on the intersection of synthetic combinatorial chemistry and neurobiology, particularly understanding the molecular basis of fundamental brain processes. Her group employs tools from organic synthesis, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, and biophysics to manipulate and understand small molecules and proteins involved in critical neuronal communication, development, learning, and memory.
