Biography

Linda Lundmark received her PhD in 2006 and became an associate professor in 2011. She has since been actively involved in various research projects and teaching at the Department of Geography, Umeå University. Her dissertation focused on employment changes in sparsely populated areas of Northern Sweden and Finland, and her research interests extend to regional economics in the context of resource availability and climate change. Lundmark seeks to understand how perceptions of resources evolve and how this impacts sustainable development within Arctic regions. Her work explores the geographic factors important for societal development and how communities adapt and innovate in response to changing conditions. In addition to her research, she plays a significant role in education as the course coordinator for the Master's program in tourism and has previously served as the director of studies at the department. Lundmark is also engaged in governance as a board member of the Gösta Skoglund International Fund and chairs the scientific council of CERUM. Her research projects include studies on tourism labor markets in rural Arctic regions and the impacts of COVID-19 on tourism communities, among others.
