Biography

Linda Peteanu is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1989 and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of California at Riverside. Her research primarily focuses on the optical properties and charge transport characteristics of conjugated materials, thin films, and molecular electronics. She employs fluorescence microscopy-based methods to address questions in materials science, especially exploring the electronic properties of conjugated polymers and nanoscale materials using techniques such as single molecule imaging. Recently, she has collaborated with teams to investigate new classes of helical conjugated polymers for advanced electronic applications. Her work aims to enhance the performance of organic light-emitting devices and photovoltaic systems by understanding the interactions between molecular structure and solvent environment. Through her group, she has contributed to multiple projects regarding the optimization of optical properties and photostability of nanomaterials, and she has been recognized with several awards for her contributions to science.
