Biography

Linda Senden holds the chair of European Law at Utrecht University, a position she has held since 2013. She has a diverse academic background, with degrees in International Law, European Studies, and Dutch Law from the University of Amsterdam. Her doctorate, obtained in 2003 from Tilburg University, focused on 'Soft Law in European Community Law'. Senden previously served as a lecturer in European law at both the University of Amsterdam and Tilburg University before being appointed as a professor of EU Law in 2004. She is a co-founder and director of the Utrecht Centre for Regulation and Enforcement in Europe (RENFORCE), established in 2021. Her research interests include the relationship between legislation and enforcement in the context of EU policies, as well as gender equality law. Senden is also currently leading a Horizon Europe project aimed at enhancing the inclusion and representation of girls and women. She has engaged in various roles advising on EU law within bodies such as the European Commission and the Dutch government. Additionally, she has contributed to numerous publications and has served on several editorial boards, furthering her commitment to advancing legal knowledge in her field.
