Biography

Linda Shi is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Master of Regional Planning Program at Cornell University. Her research focuses on urban climate adaptation, specifically exploring ways to improve environmental sustainability and social justice through effective urban and regional planning. Shi studies how various aspects of urban land governance, including land use fiscalization and property rights regimes, influence climate vulnerability and adaptation strategies. With a background in urban environmental planning, she has consulted for organizations such as AECOM, the World Bank, and the Rocky Mountain Institute, contributing to projects across the U.S., Asia, Latin America, and Africa. She holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a Master’s in Urban Planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a Bachelor's in Environmental Management from Yale University.
