Biography

Linda Warley is Professor Emerita at the University of Waterloo, having previously served as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Arts. Born in England, she immigrated to Canada in 1970. Warley's academic journey included earning an Honors BA in English from the University of Guelph, followed by a Master’s degree and a PhD from the University of Guelph and the University of Alberta, respectively. She has a rich background in Canadian literature and has made significant contributions through her research and publications, particularly in the fields of postcolonial approaches and Auto/biography Studies. Her notable works include co-editing "Canadian Graphic: Picturing Life Narratives" and numerous articles exploring the intersections of memory, identity, and Canadian culture. Warley's current research focuses on contemporary Canadian literature and the narratives of Metis peoples, alongside her own family's historical experiences, particularly their expulsion from East Germany in 1945. She has been recognized for her scholarly contributions with awards such as the Gabrielle Roy prize for Canadian literary scholarship.
