Biography

Lindsay Allen is a Lecturer in Greek and Near Eastern History at King's College London. She completed her degree in Classics at Oxford in 1997 and obtained her PhD from University College London in 2002. Since joining King's College London in 2005, she has focused her research on the Achaemenid Persian empire and pre-Islamic Iran, with particular interest in Achaemenid kingship texts and material culture of the fourth century BC. Allen has held research fellowships at prestigious institutions including Wolfson College, Oxford, the Warburg Institute, and was a visiting scholar at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World in New York during the academic year 2008-09. Her scholarly expertise encompasses the reception of history, particularly in Persian history and the Ancient Near East, and she is involved in supervising PhD students in these areas. Allen actively engages in public scholarship and has contributed to initiatives such as the Collège de France and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
