Dr. Lindsay Delaronde

Biography

Lindsay Katsitsakatste Delaronde is a Limited Term Assistant Professor in the Audain Professorship of Contemporary Art Practice at the University of Victoria. With a Master's degree in Fine Arts and currently a PhD student in the Indigenous Governance program, she focuses on Indigenous dance theatre, site-specific performance art, and cultural resurgence. Her artistic philosophy is rooted in Indigenous aesthetic practices, heavily influenced by Haudenosaunee epistemologies and natural law. Delaronde's work addresses the socio-political relationships between land, body, and identity, fostering Indigenous sovereignty and feminist perspectives. She weaves art, history, and spirituality into her creative processes, aiming to support the re-visioning of Indigenous futures through collaborative and co-creative practices. Her projects often intertwine themes of healing, decolonization, and social/political activism, striving to offer perspectives that transcend intergenerational wounds and articulate liberatory pathways.
