Biography

Lindsay Der is an Honorary Research Associate at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a limited-term Assistant Professor in the Department of Community, Culture, and Global Studies at UBCO. Her research encompasses the Çatalhöyük Research Project, where she focuses on figurines and investigates changing human-animal relationships over time, particularly in relation to social organization in the Neolithic settlement of Çatalhöyük, Turkey. Lindsay's research interests include cultural heritage, human-animal relationships, ritual symbolism, iconography, archaeological ethics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and public archaeology. Furthermore, she is a founding member of the Landscape, Symbolism, and Human-Nature Relationships in Ancient Anatolia Collective Research Project (LSAA-CRP). In 2015, she contributed to the publication 'Archaeology Entanglement' from Routledge, which reflects her commitment to advancing knowledge in the field through interdisciplinary research.
