Biography

Lindsay Hamm earned her PhD in Sociology from North Carolina State University in 2018. She joined Purdue University's Sociology department in 2017 as a Continuing Lecturer and transitioned to an Assistant Teaching Professor position in 2022. Her research focuses on scholarship related to teaching and learning, particularly in the context of service learning and human interactions with artificial intelligence. Currently, she is working on creating a neural-network-enabled grading tool that provides students with feedback on early drafts of their written assignments. This project aims to research student and instructor perceptions of using AI to identify biases in the feedback and grading processes.
