Lindsay Blair Howe’s research describes the dialectical process of urbanization and its social and geographical dimensions. His approaches include original digital mixed-method tools and the use of volunteered geographic information, alongside established qualitative urban research methods in the social sciences. His transdisciplinary work is conducted in collaboration, bridging Europe and Africa, and emphasizes the importance of everyday life and people’s lived experiences in understanding and theorizing urban space. Lindsay completed his undergraduate degree in Architecture, Global Culture & Commerce at the University of Virginia before practicing in the United States and Germany. He completed his master’s and PhD degrees in Architecture and Urban Studies at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Following further postdoctoral research, he served a lectureship at ETHZ and was appointed Professor of Architecture and Society at the University of Liechtenstein until joining the Technical University of Munich in 2025.
